"And the Beat Goes On" is a 1980 single by the Los Angeles-based quintet, The Whispers. The song was their first of two number-one singles on the R&B chart, and their first Top 20 pop hit in the United States, peaking at number nineteen.[1] "And the Beat Goes On" was The Whispers only number one on the dance chart.[2] It was also their first and biggest hit in the United Kingdom, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart.

Will Smith used a sample of the song for his 1998 hit single, "Miami". Madonna also samples parts of this song during her performance of, "Beat Goes On" on her 2008-2009 Sticky & Sweet Tour.

The song is featured in the videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
